Peppermint

Family Lamiaceae. A popular, perennial, aromatic herb that grows 1.5-3 feet tall. Predominantly made up of menthol and menthone (up to 70%) which are responsible for it fragrance and cooling properties. High in vitamins A, B2 and C and minerals magnesium, calcium and iron. Its oil is derived through steam distillation of its leaves. Geography: Native to Europe and the Middle East and widely cultivated in the United States.

Historical Uses

Enjoyed for its cooling, anti-inflammatory and pain relieving qualities in balms, creams, ointments and in massage oils.
